Forty-eight amps, Wi-Fi scheduling, four separate safety listings and more cable than anything else we cover — for less than the marquee brands. The catch is not the hardware.

On paper the EVIQO reads like a charger that costs considerably more than it does. You get the full 48 amps, Wi-Fi scheduling, a UL and ETL safety listing, an FCC mark, an ENERGY STAR listing, an IP66 / NEMA 4 body, and a 25-foot charging cable with a 40-inch input lead behind it. That last pair is the spec we keep coming back to: total reach, not just cable length, is the number that decides whether the charger can go where the wiring is and still reach where the car parks.

The reason it is not simply our default recommendation is not a spec. It is that EVIQO is a smaller brand with a shorter track record than ChargePoint or Wallbox, and a home charger is a ten-year appliance bolted to your wall. The standout spec: total reach, not just cable length

Cable length is quoted everywhere and total reach is quoted almost nowhere, which is odd, because reach is what determines whether the install works. A charger sits where the electrician can reasonably get power to it. The car parks where the driveway lets it. The distance between those two facts is the problem the cable has to solve, and it includes the run from the wall box down and around whatever is in the way — a door frame, a parked bike, a step.

EVIQO publishes a 25-foot charging cable plus a 40-inch input cable. Twenty-five feet is at the top of the class; the ChargePoint Home Flex ships 23 feet, and the Grizzl-E Classic Connect matches EVIQO at 25. Two feet does not sound like a difference until the charge port is on the wrong side of the car, at which point it decides whether you have to reverse in every night. The input lead matters for a different reason: it gives the installer slack to position the unit without moving the circuit.

Two things worth being clear about. Longer cable is not free — a 25-foot 48A cable is heavy, and it is more cable to coil, drag over concrete and wear at the connector. Charging speed, worked out

Forty-eight amps at 240 volts is about 11.5 kW. At our standard reference of roughly 3.5 miles of range per kWh, that is about 40 miles of range per hour— roughly 400 miles across a ten-hour overnight window. For essentially every driver that is a full charge every night with hours unused.

This is also where we get to be blunt about what you are and are not paying for. Every 48-amp charger in this category delivers the same roughly 40 miles per hour, because amperage times voltage is the whole calculation. The EVIQO is not faster than the Wallbox Pulsar Plus and it is not slower than the Emporia Level 2. What separates them is enclosure, app quality, physical size, load-balancing features and brand support — and the price you pay for those. Anyone who tells you a pricier charger fills the car faster at the same amperage is selling something.

The install and the certifications

The version we cover is hardwired, which means an electrician terminates it into a dedicated 240V circuit. Under NEC Article 625, EV charging is a continuous load, so that circuit is sized to 125% of the charger’s draw: 48 × 1.25 = 60, so a 60-amp breaker. On certification, the EVIQO is doing more than most value chargers. A UL listing and an ETL listing both mean a nationally recognized testing laboratory has tested the unit against the ANSI/UL 2594 standard for EV supply equipment — not a manufacturer self-declaration. The FCC mark covers electromagnetic emissions, which is not nothing on a device with a wireless radio bolted to your house. And the ENERGY STAR listing certifies standby efficiency, which matters because a home charger spends the overwhelming majority of its life plugged in and doing nothing. The IP66 / NEMA 4 body means it is rated for outdoor mounting, dust-tight and sealed against powerful water jets.

The honest risk: brand, not hardware

We would rather name this plainly than bury it in a pros-and-cons list. The EVIQO hardware is well specified and independently certified. The uncertainty is what happens in year four: whether the app is still maintained, whether a warranty claim finds someone to answer it, whether replacement parts exist. ChargePoint and Wallbox have long histories to point at. A smaller brand does not, and a charger is a long-lived appliance you cannot easily swap.

That risk is worth taking for some buyers and not others. If the price gap is material to you and the reach solves a real problem in your driveway, take it — the certifications mean the safety question is settled, and the three-year warranty is competitive. If you would rather not think about your charger again for a decade and can absorb the difference, the brand-name options are the more conservative buy.

Who should buy it — and who should skip it

Buy itif reach is your binding constraint — a long driveway, an awkward parking angle, a panel at the wrong end of the garage — and you want 48 amps and a real app without paying premium-brand prices. The charging cable is 25 feet, and EVIQO also publishes a 40-inch input cable on the supply side. That combination is the longest total reach in our registry, and it is what lets you mount the unit near the panel while still reaching a car parked at the far end of a driveway.

How fast does the EVIQO 48A charge?

At 48 amps — about 11.5 kW — it adds roughly 40 miles of range per hour at our standard 3.5 miles-per-kWh reference. That is the same practical speed as every other 48A charger; amperage sets charging speed, and the brand on the box does not change it.

Does the EVIQO need a 60-amp circuit?

Emporia has a larger installed base and better-known energy-monitoring integration; EVIQO gives you more total cable reach and often a lower price. If reach is your constraint, take the EVIQO; if you want the safer brand bet, take the Emporia.
